The CICS College of Teacher Education (CICS CTE), in association with MEC 7 Health Club, Mankavu, organized a Kidney Health Awareness and Check-up Camp on 10th August 2025 (Sunday) at Azhchavattom Govt. HSS Secondary School,. The event was supported by Helping Hands Charitable Trust and the Kidney Early Evaluation Programme (KEE).
The camp aimed to raise awareness about kidney health, provide early detection of kidney-related issues, and educate the public about preventive measures. The program began at 8:30 AM with the participation of students, teachers, and members of the local community.
The inaugural function was graced by Sri. Ahammed Devarkovil, MLA, who officially inaugurated the camp. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Shylaja C.V., Principal of CICS CTE, and the keynote address was given by Prof. Basheer Manalody (Manager of CICS CTE )Sri. N.C. Moyinkutty (Councillor) extended his greetings and support for the initiative.
Several dignitaries, including Sri. Babu Pathiyeri (Chairman, MEC 7 Mankavu), Sri.Bindhu ( HM ,PTA AGHSS) and Dr. Rajeev N.J. (IQAC Coordinator, CICS CTE), N.C Abdul Jaleel (MEC 7, member ), Saleem (MEC 7 trainer )attended the function and offered their best wishes. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri.Sarjas .C .
During the camp, the Kidney Mobile Unit provided free kidney function screenings and consultations to participants.And Dr. Aparna Balachandran ( General Medicine Doctor and Nephrologist Consultant of calicut Chest Hospital )initiated highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, healthy lifestyle practices, and timely medical intervention to prevent chronic kidney diseases.
The camp was successfully lead by the leadership of Dr . Manu Varmma(surgeon ,Calicut Medical College ) and around 200 people from the different part of the district were participated .The event successfully combined community service with health education, reflecting CICS CTE’s commitment to social responsibility and public welfare
