A Debate on
Nuclear Energy; Pros and Cons
Date : 06 August 2025
Time : 1:30 PM
Venue : Conference Hall, CICS College of Teacher Education
In commemoration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day, the Department of Social Science of CICS College of Teacher Education, in association with IQAC, organized a thought-provoking debate on the topic “Nuclear Energy: Pros and Cons” on 6th August 2025.
The programme began at 1:30 PM in the college conference hall. The event opened with a few reflective words on the historical relevance of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, followed by the formal commencement of the debate. Students took part with enthusiasm, representing both sides — some advocating the efficiency and low carbon footprint of nuclear energy, while others focused on the environmental risks and tragedies of the past.
A key highlight of the programme was a powerful PowerPoint presentation by Ms.Krishnapriya, aimed at creating awareness about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, their aftermath, and the global call for peace. Her presentation provided historical insight and emotional depth, encouraging the audience to reflect on the human cost of war and the responsibility of technology.
The event succeeded in fostering critical thinking, respectful discussion, and a deeper understanding of both nuclear science and its social implications.
