“Wall of silence to wall of Voice”
An interactive session was conducted for the senior batch of teacher trainees at our college with the theme “Wall of Silence to Wall of Voice.” The objective was to empower students to break their silence about harassment and foster open conversations.
Objectives:
• Raise awareness about silent tolerance of harassment
• Encourage participants to speak up or support others in doing so
• Promote collaborative reflection and peer learning
Activities:
• Students were divided into four groups and given 20 minutes to discuss known or witnessed instances of harassment.
• Each group was then invited to:
• Role-play scenarios they had experienced or observed
• Share reflections on the roles of family, teachers, and schools in prevention
• Emphasize the importance of speaking out
Highlights:
• Three groups portrayed real-life incidents through role play and discussion, underlining how support systems can prevent harassment.
• One group courageously shared personal experiences, demonstrating vulnerability and strength.
• Participation was enthusiastic and sincere, creating a safe and respectful space for dialogue.
Outcome:
The session successfully initiated important conversations about harassment and personal boundaries. It reinforced the idea that speaking up is a powerful tool for change, and silence only serves to protect the perpetrator. Students left feeling inspired and united in their commitment to fostering safer learning environments.
