Date: 21st June 2025
The International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at CICS College of Teacher Education, Mathara, Kozhikode, on 21st June 2025. The event aimed to highlight the importance of yoga in achieving physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance.
The programme began with a melodious invocation by the College Choir, setting a serene and uplifting tone for the day. The formal session opened with the Welcome Address by Dr. Roy John, Assistant Professor of Physical Education, who emphasized the significance of yoga in daily life.
This was followed by the Inaugural Address by Prof. M. Mohammed Basheer, Manager of the college, who reflected on the role of yoga in developing discipline, inner peace, and well-being.
The central part of the event was a guided yoga session led by Ms. Aparna P.T., a student of the English Department at CICS College. She effectively introduced participants to meditation, warm-up exercises, and some basic and important yoga asanas, creating an engaging and calming experience for both students and teachers.
Additionally, the event featured a special performance by Agna K. K., a Plus Two student of Koyilandy Government Higher Secondary School and a National Medalist in Rhythmic Pair Yoga. Her graceful and powerful demonstration highlighted the strength, flexibility, and discipline cultivated through consistent yoga practice, leaving the audience inspired and awed.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Rages John, Assistant Professor of Psychology, who appreciated the efforts of everyone involved in making the programme meaningful. The celebration concluded on a positive note, reminding everyone of the timeless value of yoga in enhancing overall well-being and harmony.
In conclusion, the Yoga Day celebration was a refreshing and inspiring event, encouraging all participants to embrace yoga not just as a physical activity, but as a lifestyle that promotes balance, wellness, and mindfulness.
