PRE-INTERNSHIP INDUCTION PROGRAMME #2 (Ready Get Set Go)
Report on Pre-Internship Induction Programme - 2
Date: 23/06/2025
Time: 10:00 AM
Venue: CICS CTE Conference Hall
The CICS College of Teacher Education successfully organized the second session of the Pre-Internship Induction Programme on 23rd June 2025 at the CICS CTE Conference Hall. The session was graced by the presence of Dr. K. M. Shareef, Assistant Professor at Farook Training College, a highly respected academician known for his dynamic and innovative approach to teaching.
The programme was conceived as a platform to inspire and equip teacher trainees with effective strategies and a deeper understanding of classroom dynamics. Dr. Shareef’s session proved to be a powerful and engaging experience for all attendees, reshaping their perception of classroom teaching.
With his characteristic humour, energetic presence, and expressive delivery, Dr. Shareef immediately established a strong rapport with the audience. He advocated for the integration of natural gestures, humour, storytelling, and creativity in classroom settings to make learning more engaging and meaningful. Emphasizing the human side of teaching, he encouraged trainees to:
•
Build confidence in speech and presentation
•
Show empathy and respect to every student
•
Maintain a positive and approachable demeanor
•
Address students by name to foster connection
•
Create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
A unique feature of the session was Dr. Shareef’s demonstration of a musical pedagogical technique, in which he introduced the concept of converting learning content into rhythmic or melodic formats. Using musical meter scales such as 6m and 8m, he guided participants to align words to beats and compose simple, memorable tunes, drawing from familiar cultural forms like Vanjippattu. This method, he explained, enhances retention and student enthusiasm, particularly in primary and secondary education.
Another interactive highlight involved a brain coordination activity using color-word slides that challenged participants to identify the ink color of mismatched color names. This task illustrated how left and right brain functions can be harnessed through classroom games to promote cognitive flexibility and focus.
Dr. Shareef enriched the session with a series of personal anecdotes from his own teaching experiences, bringing practical insights and emotional depth to the discussion. His stories underscored the vital role of emotional intelligence, empathy, and reflection in a teacher's journey.
The session concluded with an atmosphere of renewed passion and clarity among the trainees. Participants expressed that the session was not only intellectually stimulating but also emotionally uplifting—rekindling their motivation and commitment to the teaching profession.
The Pre-Internship Induction Programme – 2 stands as a testament to CICS College of Teacher Education’s commitment to preparing future educators with the skills, values, and mindset required for 21st-century classrooms. The college extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. K. M. Shareef for delivering such a transformative session and for inspiring the next generation of educators.
