International Mother Language Day Celebration
The English Department successfully organized the International Mother Language Day celebration on 21st February 2025 in the General Classroom from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The event aimed to highlight the significance of mother languages in preserving cultural identity and promoting linguistic diversity.
The programme commenced with a speech delivered by Mr. Adhil T.K from the English Department, who eloquently spoke about the specialty and historical significance of International Mother Language Day. The speech emphasized the struggles faced in protecting linguistic heritage and the role of this day in encouraging multilingualism and cultural understanding.
Following the speech, a series of engaging activities were conducted to make the event both educational and enjoyable. These included:
Guess the Correct Word Challenge – A fun and interactive game where participants had to identify the correct word based on given clues.
Tongue Twister Competition – A lively challenge that tested students’ pronunciation skills in Malayalam, adding a humorous and competitive spirit to the event.
Let’s Talk in Malayalam – A simple yet meaningful activity where students were given day-to- day topics and had to speak about them entirely in Malayalam, without using words from other languages. This challenge encouraged fluency and confidence in using one’s mother tongue in daily conversations.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in the activities and contributed to the vibrant atmosphere. The programme not only provided entertainment but also instilled a deeper appreciation for the importance of one’s mother tongue in shaping identity and expression.
Overall, it was a well-spent day that left a lasting impression on everyone, reinforcing the value of linguistic heritage in personal and societal growth. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment of the efforts made by the organizers and participants, ensuring that the message of the day was effectively conveyed.
