College Trip –“Pazhassi Raja Museum”

Due to some unavoidable personal inconveniences 3 students could not go for the long trip, so they were asked to visit Pazassi Raja Museum and Botanical Garden on 19th Feb 2025 and 25th Feb 2025.
On the 19th of February 2025, we had the opportunity to visit the Pazhassi Raja Museum, a place rich in history and cultural significance. History and Background
The Pazhassi Raja Museum was originally constructed in 1812 and served as the residence for British collectors during the colonial period. In 1976, it was converted into an archaeological museum, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
Exhibits and Collections
The museum houses a wide range of historical and cultural artifacts, including:
Ancient Mural Paintings – The museum showcases beautifully preserved ancient mural
paintings, offering insight into the artistic expressions and religious themes of the time.
Bronze and Stone Sculptures – The collection includes ancient bronze and stone sculptures, reflecting the craftsmanship and artistic skills of early Indian artisans.
Art Gallery – A notable feature of the museum is the art gallery, which displays paintings by renowned artists Raja Ravi Varma and Raja Raja Varma. Their works are celebrated for
their intricate details and historical themes, adding immense value to the museum’s collection.
