Environment Day Celebration

On Environmental Day, CICS College of Teacher Education organized a series of events to
promote environmental awareness and celebrate the beauty of nature. The activities kicked off in the morning, immediately following the college assembly.
Sapling Planting Ceremony:
The day began with a symbolic act of giving back to the earth. Each department
contributed by planting saplings on the college campus. This activity not only aimed to
beautify the surroundings but also to instil a sense of responsibility towards nature
among the students. Faculty members and students enthusiastically participated,
ensuring the young plants were securely placed in their new homes.
Competitions to Showcase Talents and Awareness :
After the planting ceremony, the focus shifted to creative and intellectual expressions
through various competitions. These included essay writing, poster making, and
photography, each designed to highlight different aspects of environmental protection
and sustainability.
Poster Making Competition:
The poster-making competition saw enthusiastic participation from:
Anusha, Areeja, Rameesa, Amaya, Anagha, Devika, Sreelakshmi &Devananda.
The participants showcased their artistic talents by creating visually striking posters that
conveyed powerful messages about saving nature. Their collective efforts resulted in a
vibrant display that was both inspiring and thought-provoking.
Essay Writing Competition:
The winners of this competition were: -1st Prize: Dhanusree from 1st Year Physical Science -2nd Prize: Anusha from 1st Year English
Their essays stood out for their depth of insight and eloquent presentation of ideas on how to preserve and protect our environment.
Photography Competition:
Devananda took the top honor in the photography competition. Her winning photograph
captured the essence of nature’s beauty.
Conclusion
The Environmental Day celebrations at CICS College of Teacher Education were a
resounding success. Through the planting of saplings and the various competitions,
students and faculty alike engaged deeply with the themes of nature and sustainability.
The day was a meaningful reminder of the role each individual plays in preserving our
planet for future generations.
