Women’s day celebration

REPORT ON WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION 2024
● Theme: "Invest in Women…Accelerate Progress"
● Date: 11.3.2024
● Venue: Lecture Hall, CICS College of Teacher Education
Women’s Day 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at CICS CTE on 11.03.2024. The
event was organized to honour and recognize the invaluable contributions of women in
society, aligning with this year’s theme, "Invest in Women… Accelerate Progress."
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Inauguration and Opening Remarks
The celebration commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Indira K, Principal, CICS CTE,
emphasizing the importance of investing in women’s education, empowerment, and
leadership to drive societal progress.
Movie Screening
A thought-provoking Iranian movie THE DAY I BECAME WOMAN was scheduled to be
screened, showcasing the struggles and triumphs of women in different spheres of life. The
movie is a beautiful and intense triptych of three stages of a woman's life, marking an
extraordinary directorial debut of Marziyeh Meshkini. The first half of the film resonated
with the audience, which later sparkled discussions on gender equality and women's
empowerment. However, due to technical glitch, the entire movie could not be screened.
Debate on the theme ‘ Perspectives on the Role of Women in Society’
TOPIC :
A lively debate was conducted on the theme “ Perspectives on the Role of Women in
Society.” Participants presented diverse perspectives, highlighting the evolving roles of
women beyond traditional expectations. The debate encouraged critical thinking about gender
roles and societal expectations.
Interactive Discussion and Reflections
Following the debate, an open forum allowed students and faculty members to share their
thoughts and experiences on gender issues, empowerment strategies, and the need for
systemic change.
CONCLUSION
The Women’s Day celebration at CICS CTE was a meaningful and inspiring event,
reinforcing the significance of investing in women to achieve sustainable progress.
The discussions and activities provided valuable insights and motivated students to advocate
for gender equality in their future roles as educators.
