As part of the Pre-Internship Induction Programme – IV, the IQAC of CICS College of Teacher Education, Mathara, organized an orientation programme on "IT Essentials" on 23 June 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in the Conference Hall of the college. The programme was designed to equip student teachers with essential digital competencies required for effective classroom practices and professional development in the contemporary educational landscape.
The session focused on enhancing the participants' proficiency in various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, including Canva, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Basic IT applications. The programme aimed to familiarize prospective teachers with digital platforms and tools that support innovative teaching-learning processes, lesson planning, preparation of instructional materials, and academic documentation.
During the session, participants received hands-on training in designing creative educational resources using Canva, preparing and formatting academic documents through Microsoft Word, and developing effective multimedia presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. The training also covered fundamental IT skills, enabling student teachers to confidently utilize digital technologies in classroom transactions and administrative tasks.
The programme adopted a practical and interactive approach, providing opportunities for participants to engage directly with digital tools and applications. Through demonstrations, guided activities, and practice sessions, student teachers developed essential ICT skills that are indispensable for twenty-first-century educators.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from all student teachers. The participants actively engaged in the hands-on activities and expressed that the training significantly enhanced their confidence in integrating technology into teaching and learning processes.
The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session, during which participants shared their experiences and reflections on the usefulness of the training. The session successfully achieved its objective of strengthening the digital competencies of prospective teachers and preparing them for effective technology-enabled teaching during their internship and future professional careers.
