TOUR REPORT
Mysore – Coorg Tour

CICS College of Teacher Education, Mathara organized a two-day tour to Mysore and Coorg on 11 and 12 February. The tour was arranged to provide students with relaxation, enjoyment, and an opportunity to explore new places together. Both students and staff members actively participated in the trip with great enthusiasm.

The journey began at 03:00 AM from Puthiyastand, Kozhikode. The group travelled through
Kalpetta, Bathery, and Muthanga and reached Mysore in the morning. Breakfast was arranged at Mysore. After breakfast, sightseeing activities were conducted from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM. The students visited the magnificent Mysore Palace, well known for its royal heritage and grand Indo-Saracenic architecture. They also visited St. Philomena’s Church, admired for its impressive neo-Gothic style and peaceful atmosphere.

Lunch was arranged at 02:00 PM. After lunch, the group proceeded to Chennakesava Temple, Somanathapura, popularly known as “Little Hampi.” The intricate carvings and architectural beauty of the temple left a lasting impression on the students. In the evening, the group visited Chamundi Hill and enjoyed the stunning night view of Mysore city. Dinner was arranged in Mysore, followed by an overnight stay at Comfort Inn on a 4-sharing basis.

On the second day, breakfast was served at 07:30 AM, and the group proceeded to Coorg. At around 12:00 PM, the students visited Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple. The monastery, with its majestic golden Buddha statues and vibrant Tibetan artwork, provided a calm and serene experience. After visiting the monastery, the group explored a bamboo forest in Coorg, where students enjoyed the natural surroundings and captured photographs amidst the tall bamboo trees.

After exploring the bamboo forest, lunch was arranged. Following lunch, the students visited Kaveri Nisargadhama, a scenic island garden surrounded by greenery and flowing water. The students spent leisure time walking, enjoying nature, and shopping for souvenirs. In the evening, they attended a light show at Harangi Dam. The light show and DJ party added great excitement and energy to the tour, making it even more memorable for everyone.
After dinner, the return journey commenced at 11:00 PM. The group reached Kozhikode safely at 04:00 AM, marking the successful completion of the tour.

Overall, the Mysore–Coorg tour was a joyful and refreshing experience. It strengthened the bond among students and staff and created beautiful memories that will be cherished for years.
